Mystic Journey
Federico Abuyé
“Mystic Journey” already suggests something from the title: it offers some clues, but few. The story is silent; the book has no text. That was deliberate, to convey a more universal feeling around the themes it addresses. It is also a nod to certain traditions that propose knowledge that transcends language. It is, in part, my way of exploring that idea.
The character of the story is in constant transformation. What happens to him is sometimes pleasant, other times not so much. But everything follows an order, a rhythm that crosses time. Life is like a tale. And sometimes it seems —or perhaps it is true— that there is a silent writer writing it behind us.
The book was edited by “Nueve Grullas” and “Grupo Belerofonte” both Uruguayan publishers. The realization technique is mixed but mostly made in graphite with layer superposition on transparent papers. In a way, an “artisanal Photoshop”.
